Complete, IG (not), New Beginning

Stamp this project complete. Yes, I finally edged this personalized blanket. I hope Lil C likes it.

While I was working on the blanket, I decided I needed an instant gratification project. I chose this Sweetheart Poncho.

Well, so much for instant gratification. I ran out of yarn and needed to go to the store to get more but didn't feel like going. Maybe this weekend, I will go get it. Maybe.
This is where I left it. At the hood of the poncho. Can you believe it? Almost to the end and run out of yarn. SMH.

This is the edging the pattern calls for but I didn't like the way it looked like little triangles. They were supposed to be scallops. :(
So I decided to do a picot stitch instead. Yeah, I like this.

Over the weekend, I watched a Knit & Crochet Marathon. I know boring to most of the world but so exciting for me. ;) It was on for hours. Watching the show made me decide that it was time for a new beginning so I have taken the plunge. I am taking a knitting class at AC Moore on Feb. 6th. Of course I can't wait until then, so I paid Lionbrand.com a visit and had D print and bind the 60 pages of the Learn How to Knit book. Can't wait to get home to play. :P
Stay Crafty...

The best part of the trip...

Random shots in Times Square.

The girls and mom.

I think this is beautiful.

Crochet Update
Okay so enough abot the trip and back to crafting. Here are two of the current WIP. I think they are coming along nicely. I am hoping to have the personalized afghan ready by next week (it was only requested in November...yeah I know LATE).

Personalized Afghan for Gail

Z's First Fashion Show
Since I was dressing her for each scene, I couldn't take pictures of her walking so, I snapped two backstage. Her dad video taped it and Nene took a few pictures (maybe I'll get those up).

Relaxation
Sunday while I was relaxing (yes, I had time to relax) my sister snapped these pictures. Can't you tell I am in my glory???

For the Love of Art

So last week, I didn't get a chance to post but I vowed to post today so I'm doing it!!!
Last Monday, Zaria, the little princess that she is, decided to express her love of art. I gifted her a chalk board/white board but that wasn't enough. She needed her own canvas so, she decided the white couch worked much better. Yup my white couch...here's the proof.

What would you have done?
A. Let daddy deal with her because you just might go to jail
B. Laugh until you pee yourself
C. Called the best art school in town

I choose A. Thank God he was there. I was so upset that all I could do is ask my sister if she was paying any attention to my child that she was supposed to be babysitting. MENTAL NOTE: Find a new baby sitter.

On a more pleasant note, I am making great progress with the baby cable sweater. I think I could be finished with this by the end of the week.

The Cable Craze

After viewing patterns during the Christmas season, I noticed that cables were everywhere. My sister found a scarf in Walmart and said, "Hey can you make this?" I looked at her like she was crazy and replied, "Yes but it would take some work." We moved on. Then when I went to work, I searched online (just to see what was available) for a crochet cable scarf pattern. I was able to find one and then I became frightened. Well, guess what??? I jumped in. That's right I am working on my first pattern containing cables. It's the Hooded Baby Sweater from www.freepatterns.com I love it. One of my assistant headmasters just had a baby girl so I am planning on gifting the set to her or adding it to my completed project bin. I'll post a picture in a few.

Happy Hooking.

Feeling Ill

I woke up this morning just knowing that I was going to get a lot of crocheting done today but I haven't even looked at a hook yet. I feel horrible!!! My throat feels as if there is a ball stuck on the right side. HELP!!! I guess I am going to make some tea and pray that whatever this is goes away. Maybe I'll work on the baby sweater while in my bed with some sappy girl flick on. Yes, sounds like a great idea.

Post soon.

Keep hooking.

Last night

I crocheted for about an hour (after Zaria went to sleep).

Here's what I started:

A Scrubbie: okay, I found this pattern online and it is almost completed, but I couldn't figure out how to pull the strings to make it a sprial ball. If you know, let me in on the secret.

Diagonal Stitch Blanket for a baby boy. This is one of my favorite patterns because it works up so fast and it's cute. I am hoping to have most of it completed by Sunday. I learned how to do this stitch here: http://www.crochetcabana.com/stitches/diag-box-st.htm

This weekend I am planning on starting a round ripple (still questionable), some newsboy caps (I love the one on this blog (http://lesalicious.blogspot.com/), my cowl neck sweater from the lion brand site (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70210A.html), and I need to make a few dishcloths for an exchange for Valentines day.
Peace and blessings.
PS: I am hoping to spend some time with HIM also.
