Complete, IG (not), New Beginning

Stamp this project complete. Yes, I finally edged this personalized blanket. I hope Lil C likes it.

While I was working on the blanket, I decided I needed an instant gratification project. I chose this Sweetheart Poncho.

Well, so much for instant gratification. I ran out of yarn and needed to go to the store to get more but didn't feel like going. Maybe this weekend, I will go get it. Maybe.

This is where I left it. At the hood of the poncho. Can you believe it? Almost to the end and run out of yarn. SMH.

This is the edging the pattern calls for but I didn't like the way it looked like little triangles. They were supposed to be scallops. :(

So I decided to do a picot stitch instead. Yeah, I like this.

Over the weekend, I watched a Knit & Crochet Marathon. I know boring to most of the world but so exciting for me. ;) It was on for hours. Watching the show made me decide that it was time for a new beginning so I have taken the plunge. I am taking a knitting class at AC Moore on Feb. 6th. Of course I can't wait until then, so I paid Lionbrand.com a visit and had D print and bind the 60 pages of the Learn How to Knit book. Can't wait to get home to play. :P

Almost There

I started this blanket a little before Christmas as an order for D's coworker. Normally, I do full names but he asked for initials so I did what he requested. The problem was the center part was so small. I didn't know what to do so, I did some quick math and decided to just surround the center part with granny squares. That wouldn't take too long right? Wrong. This was a great idea but who was sewing all of the squares together??? Have a mentioned that I hate sewing pieces together? Oh well, I had to finish the project for little CDC. So here it is, almost completed. All it's missing is a border, which I will work on tonight while watching tv or some girly movie...

A New Year (photo heavy)

Well, here it is the 19th day of 2010 and this is my first post of the new year. Sorry, it's been a busy start. First we celebrated Zaria's 4th birthday.

This past weekend, we (Zaria and I) hosted our first tea party. She had two friends over, I baked those amazing lemon cookies that Crafty Christina introduced to me and made a few finger sandwiches.

When I opened the Disney Princess Porcelin Tea Set that Z received as a gift for Christmas, one of the tea cups was broken (I didn't realize this until I reached my hand in the water to wash the cups). While it sucked that the cup was broken, it was a plus for me. I realized that the only thing that made them Disney Princess was the stickers that the company stuck on the cups. SMH. All that money for the set only to find out that they're just stickers. Now I know for next year's birthday tea party, I can go to the dollar store and purchase tea cups and some character stickers and make our own. Cheaper for Daddy...LOL. Here's a few pictures.

The girls had a blast. After eating and sipping tea, they danced and colored. A good time was had by all.

Now onto my UFOs...

This so sad but very true. While I was on vacation, I felt like I was being attacked by yarn in my bedroom. It was coming from every direction and I was a little frightened. So, I organized my stash and then headed to the bucket of shame (head bowed). I new there were a few projects that once upon a time I had started with the intention of gifting it to someone. I know shameful. Well now, I have vowed not to start another project until these projects are completed.

These just need pom poms and ties added.

This is a hat I started before Christmas. I didn't like the way it was turning out so...ripped it will be.

I started this hat for my cousin. She purchased the yarn and I told her I would make the hat. This will be finished by Saturday. (Not sure if she still wants it but I will finish it.)

One of the mile-a-minute afghans that I started. This one was really going to someone, I won't mention her name because she does read my blog. I need to make 5 more strips and sew them together. Have I told you that I hate hand sewing??? Well, I do. it takes forever.

This is another mile-a-minute. I started stitching this one together but never finished. This one has been in the UFO for over three years. Sad. I know. SMH.

The cable phase came and went and I still haven't finished this could be adorable baby sweater. I have a new little baby girl arriving in July. Maybe I will make some booties and a little hat and have a gift for her.

Oh the bobble stitch diamond afghan from LionBrand. Started it and loved how the diamonds worked up but they were too much. Decided to begin and end with the diamonds. Now if I could just get the middle (simple dcs) completed, maybe this could be a FO.

Started this one last February while in New Jersey taking my sister to visit her KEAN University. I wanted to learn the broomstick pattern. I learned it but haven't finished my scarf. Did you see the that? I said MY... Yep, this is for me. So why haven't I finished it? It's next on the list.

Tis the Season (Update 3 of 3)

I am still working on gifts. I don't know why I always think I have so much time. Next year, I am starting earlier and just storing gifts away. Here's what I accomplished this weekend. I can't say who what is for yet but I can show everyone what I completed.

Tonight I am working on a pair of mittens, a hat and scarf set, and a poncho. Speaking of ponchos, I made a red and white one this weekend and forgot to take a picture of it before it became a gift. I did ask that the person who gave it, take a picture of the child wearing it. I will post it when I receive it. Z's teachers also received hats for Christmas last Friday.

And...I've been baking and just feeling like homemade is better than anything else. If only I had more time...

Today was our holiday party at the office. I made homemade biscuits, apple butter (crock pots are amazing), lemon cookies (thank you Christina for sharing the recipe), and a lemon poppy seed loaf. Everyone loved everything. Baking and crock pot food makes your house smell wonderful. :)

Tis the Season (Update 2 of 3)

Yesterday we had our first major Noreaster of the season. We were snowed in, we had over a foot of snow. It was light and fluffy at first but once we got down to the bottom, it was wet and heavy (the joys of shoveling out a car). I am very thankful for my sister's return, and for D. They both made the shoveling go by a lot faster. J came out to help also but his idea of cleaning off the car involved him standing on my car. Excuse me but your feet belong on the ground...

I love snow (everything but the shoveling). Isn't it beautiful?

Zaria came out to play. After making her snow angel, she quickly went back in the house to get warm. I love this picture but I don't know how well people will be able to see the angel.

She's kinda cute too...

Tis the Season (Update 1 of 3)

Christmas is almost here and I for one am getting very excited. This year the holiday season has been very busy for me. Z is dancing and singing and she also started preschool so that has been a huge shift in what mommy must do. Here she is at her first School Christmas Pagent.

Cute, huh??? And she never even sang the song. We have only been singing Feliz Navidad for almost a month. SMH.

After the Pagent, I wanted to go visit the class to take a few pictures of Z and TT (her cousin who is in the same class).

Still making faces, but now she wants to sing the song. Go figure...
