Yarn Stash Increase

I am excited so please let me share. We have a place called the recycle center, here in Boston and everything there (just about everything) is FREE. So imagine my surprise when I received a message from the director saying, FREE chenille yarn (take as much as you can carry). You know I was there. I just returned and the yarn wasn't exactly what I thought it would be but it was FREE. I will post pictures of the new stash (as soon as I get home and take the picture). Already have a bunch of ideas brewing. There is one downfall. I will need to make balls in order to carry the yarn around in my project bag. :( That will take some time, but I will get to it.

Craft Room

I said I would post pictures of the soon to be craftroom so, here they are. Warning: the space is messy and a little junky right now. Planning on doing some work in there this coming weekend. I am starting off by organizing and tossing.

Newsboy Weekend

Success is so sweet. This weekend, I made it my business to master that Newsboy hat pattern that I failed at the weekend before. Well, I did it...and I did it so well that I have made a total of six of them. I wore my black one to work yesterday and everyone loved it. Two people requested that I make a few for them. My girlfriend, the one who inspired me to make the hat in the first place, tried the hat on and it was a little big for her so last night, I made another one for her to try on. I am taking it over to her today to make sure it fits. She wants one in cream (made last night), chocolate brown (on the hook now), navy, and red (need to find the right color red for her). So, off I go to crochet the Newsboy hat (6 more to go). Here's me modeling mine. Enjoy!!!

Unproductive

So this weekend did not go as I would have liked. I did crochet for a while on Monday but none of the products came out like I thought they would. I think I am a pretty good crocheter (advanced beginner) but for some reason, I couldn't get the pattern to work for me. Good thing the designer was/is willing to help me. Oh yeah, the project that I spent all day working on was a newsboy cap. Let's just say, I haven't given up just yet. I know the problem for me is that I have never worked with a Q hook. This thing is so big and bulky. I worked the pattern three times so far and each time, I get closer to what I want the hat to look like. As for the Side to Side Cowl Neck sweater...I will get to it ( I had a change of heart regarding the yarn choice).

SCHOOL UPDATE
As you all know, I fell behind in my English 101 class in the fall. After the deaths of my son's father and my stepfather, I just couldn't get back on track. I took an INC and now I am trying to complete the work. I spent some time today organizing my work and I am focused and ready to get started again. I will keep you all posted.

I also took so before pictures to show you all of the soon to be craft space. I will post them in the morning. I promise. Just know that the space is a little bit of a mess right now.

After vowing not to waste any more time on HIM, he finally called (in the middle of the night) and asked me to come get him. Of course he didn't call until Saturday/Sunday but at least he called...Have I mentioned, I LOVE HIM!!!

Peace and blessings...

Last night

I crocheted for about an hour (after Zaria went to sleep).

Here's what I started:

A Scrubbie: okay, I found this pattern online and it is almost completed, but I couldn't figure out how to pull the strings to make it a sprial ball. If you know, let me in on the secret.

Diagonal Stitch Blanket for a baby boy. This is one of my favorite patterns because it works up so fast and it's cute. I am hoping to have most of it completed by Sunday. I learned how to do this stitch here: http://www.crochetcabana.com/stitches/diag-box-st.htm

This weekend I am planning on starting a round ripple (still questionable), some newsboy caps (I love the one on this blog (http://lesalicious.blogspot.com/), my cowl neck sweater from the lion brand site (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70210A.html), and I need to make a few dishcloths for an exchange for Valentines day.
Peace and blessings.
PS: I am hoping to spend some time with HIM also.

The Past Weekend

Okay. Am I getting good at this or what???
Last week Zaria turned two and I said I would post some pictures from her party. Well, here they are. We had so much fun. Her Godmother missed her party last year so this year she made up for it (cake in the face and all). Enjoy!!

I made her this shirt. It says "I'm the Birthday Girl" I will have to take a picture of the shirt.

Below are random pics from the party. I made the banner (used photo paper), my lil sis (I love this girl) stayed up with me the night before making the loot bags (Backpack), her Godmother (Cece) purchased the cake (it wasn't what she wanted but it tasted great!!!).

Love

Hello All...
Have you ever know someone forever and no matter what whenever you see that person you get butterflies in your stomach? Ever wonder why??? Well, I believe I found the reason. Your IN LOVE with that person. How did I come to this conclusion? Well, it happens to me every time I see HIM. I can't tell you who HIM is but I am sure one day you will know. I've know HIM for a long time and he has always had a special place in my heart but I never knew it was like this. I thank God for HIM and I pray that God works out every issue he is dealing with right now.

Enough about HIM (this is what we will call him). LOL

Onto crochet. What have I been working on. Now that I am all settled in the new place, I am working on the Side to Side Cowl Neck sweater from LionBrand (for me). Yesterday I received an order for a baby blanket (baby boy) so that needs to be completed by next week. I choose the pattern and brought the yarn with me to work today. Let's hope I get to take my lunch today so I can start it. Oh yea...I need a scarf to match the hat I made myself when winter started. Did you know it is supposed to be 19 degrees this weekend? And that's the high.

Keep safe and warm.

Peace for now.

A New Year a New Me

Well, Happy New Year to you all. I started the year off at church, where I plan to spend a lot of time. 2007 was not a great year for me. I went through a lot and ended the year back at home. I was sad at first but now I see that this is exactly where I need to be. Being at home helps me focus. I had support before but not like I needed. So, now I can focus on me, my children, my school work, and of course my crocheting.

I am pretty happy with the third floor apartment. My favorite part is the closed in back porch (yes, it is heated). I have decided that this will be my "office". I am having shelves put in as soon as I get a few extra dollars. I also have a nine cube storage thingy so I plan on using that for yarn storage. (I would like to get rid of the bins). The closet space in my bedroom is horrid so I will have to reserve some space for me clothes in the office. Not a problem... I think I will take some before photos so everyone can see the difference in the end. I also like this space because it is away from the rest of the house. Which means, it is quite. Finally a place for me.

As for crocheting projects, I haven't done much lately. Although, I have a lot of things in mind. I only finished 3 of my 12 blankets so I will work on those. Who cares if the kids didn't get them for Christmas. I didn't see them anyway. Maybe I will just give them as birthday presents instead...

Speaking of birthdays, Zaria's birthday is next Thursday and I wasn't going to do anything because her dad didn't want too. Well, now I am giving her a party. Nothing big but this means I have a cake to bake and decorate. Last year I made a cake and cupcakes and I think I will do this again. The theme...DORA, of course. I will post pictures.

Peace and blessings for now.
